Thousands of protesters marched Saturday from the White House to the Capitol to demand an end to the Iraq war, leading to the arrests of at least 150 people.
Many of the protesters were arrested without a struggle after they jumped over a barricade near the base of the Capitol. But some grew angry as police attempted to push them back using large black shields and a chemical spray. Protesters responded by throwing signs and chanting: "Shame on you."
Before arriving at the Capitol lawn, the demonstrators marched on Pennsylvania Avenue holding banners and signs and saying, "What do we want? Troops out. When do we want it? Now."

I wished the cops used a little something stronger than pepper spray.

"What do we want? Troops out. When do we want it? Now." The creativity of their chants know no bounds! Jesse Jackson was obviously not consulted for a killer rhyme.

About 13 blocks away, nearly 1,000 counterprotesters gathered near the Washington Monument, frequently erupting in chants of "U-S-A" and waving American flags. About 13 blocks away, nearly 1,000 counterprotesters gathered near the Washington Monument,

It’s AP. “Thousands” of protesters was probably more like three or four hundred.

Fox News reported an estimate of 5K, they had expected 10K.

What was the Fox news estimate based on? AP? Fox may be fairly conservative in their coverage but for my money CNN has more reporters actually in the field.

There were some shots of the protestors staging a “die-in” at some location close to the cameras - one jerk who was interviewed was babbling about Nixon!

Anti-war protesters are morons. Do they not know that the Iraqi govt wants us there? Pres. Talabani said a few months ago that we would need to be there at least till the end of 2008 in full force, and the resolution by parliament we all heard about asking for troop withdrawal was actually not true. The Iraqi govt renews the UN mandate for US presence every year. The Iraqi govt may be struggling, but it was DEMOCRATICALLY elected.

Breaking news isn’t bad. It’s the next day after the producers have managed to massage it that the real bias creeps in.

What do we want? Troops out. When do we want it? Now." I've always been partial to, "Where are we going? Planet Ten!
"When are we going? Real Soon!"
But, then you have to explain the reference.

"Thousands of protesters marched Saturday from the White House to the Capitol to demand an end to the Iraq war..."
They should go to Tehran and stage a nude protest to end the fighting in Iraq.
