In a high cost of living state like New Jersey, $48,000 a year doesn't go very far after you tote up the expenses. His wife is far being a gold digger if she asks to be maintained in a middle class lifestyle. There's no one to blame for the breakup of the marriage but her husband. By all accounts she was the faithful wife.

The $48k only represents alimony. Coupled with the child support he is already paying, she would get around $62k a year. In my opinion, that is excessive. You have to keep in mind that she is an able-bodied individual, capable of earning a decent living on her own. Plus, she also has a book deal, which brings in God-knows how much money. I suspect that Dina Matos is already capable of providing herself with a comfortable middle-class lifestyle. Giving her an extra $62k a year on top of what she already earns isn't necessary, it's lavish.
