Vatican Statement Defends Pope John Paul II’s 2004 Allocution on the Moral Obligation to Care for and Show Compassion for All People Like Terri

ST. PETERSBURG, Fl., Sept. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- By issuing its latest statement on the obligation to feed and hydrate those persons deemed to be in a "vegetative" or even comatose state, the Vatican today reiterated its two thousand year old teaching that all human life is sacred and deserving of our care, no matter its condition. The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation (Terri's Foundation) wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the Holy See for again repeating this vital truth.
Even if a person is severely injured, compromised or otherwise limited in his or her abilities, they still retain their "fundamental human dignity and must, therefore, receive ordinary and proportionate care" according to the Vatican. This includes providing them both food and water, even if by artificial means.
It is our fervent hope that the clergy, religious and those who administer Catholic health care, as well as the laity who persistently ignored the basic right to life of our daughter and sister Terri, and who persist to this day to dissent from this basic moral teaching of the Church by claiming that Pope John Paul II's March 20th allocution is "up for discussion", will begin to open their eyes and hearts to the immutable and incontrovertible truth re-affirmed by the Holy See today.
"We find it sad that many of those who claim to speak on behalf of the betterment of society and concern for the poor were against Terri and our efforts to care for her," said Robert Schindler, Terri's father.
As the Associated Press was quick to point out, "the Vatican condemned [Terri] Schiavo's death as 'arbitrarily hastened' and called the removal of her feeding tube a violation of the principles of Christianity and civilization."
Our fight continues every day to defend the lives of vulnerable persons threatened by new laws which redefine feeding tubes as "artificial life support" and also "medical futility" laws that allow hospitals, nursing and hospice facilities and family members to abandon our fellow human beings to a torturous death by starvation and dehydration or by any other means.
As we stated to His Eminence, Cardinal William Joseph Levada, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in April of 2006, "Our goal is to defend the rights of our severely brain-injured or otherwise disabled brothers and sisters in the hope of preventing what happened to our Terri from ever happening to another."
Today's statement from the Vatican moves us much closer toward that goal.

You are terribly mistaken about Terri, she was not in any sort of a coma and hadn't been for years.
This case (where there was more reason to let her go than most) was only different because shameless people turned it into a political cause and fooled a lot of good people.
You're right, Michael Schiavo went to court to illegally murder his wife to cover up a crime. He found a judge who was willing to break state and federal laws. And finally, the culture of death duped a large part of the public on the matter.
Nobody knows why. No judge has ever issued an order like that before. Only him, guided by a death freak named Geroge Felos.
When Bobby and Suzanne tried to feed Terri some pudding after her tube was pulled in 2001, Greer punished them by disallowing them to visit Terri for a period of time. Greer had his mind made up that she was going to die long before he was actually able to pull it off.
It is clear that the credible testimony was that given by Dr. Bamhill for various reasons, not the least of which is that he has examined Terri Schiavo and reviewed her medical records.
While the attorney for the Respondents did get him to acknowledge that he could not say with certainty how much of her nutritional requirement she might be able to ingest orrally, he was quite positve that in no way could she comsume enough in the manner to sustain herself.
The court does not feel that another medical procedue merely to specify what portion of insufficiency would result from the removal of the feeding tube warrants the granting of the Petition.
Accordingly, It is ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that the Petition for Order Aurthorizing Evaluation, be and the same is hereby denied.

out where you found out where her soul is. I have been praying for her but won’t have to do it anymore if you
can tell me how you found out that she is in heaven.

Please find ANY evidence that Terri was in any way unconscious when the feeding tube was removed.
You are trying to make a claim that her estranged husband and his ghoulish attorneys didn’t even put forth.

2. I pray that God will free Terri from Purgatory if she
is there.
3. Where do I think her spirit is? It is in either heaven,

You put her in heaven and still haven’t answered my question
asking — where did you get your information.
Meanwhile, in Gainesville, FL a guy asking JOHN KERRY a question at the mike, was pounced on by female deputies and THEN TAZERED. His parents are going to be on FOX NEWS.
FLORIDA IS A POLICE STATE and tazers are used way too much ending in numerous deaths. They use female deputies to disguise the obvious.
As much as I hate to pay for state sponsored criminal negligence, I hope his parents SUE the pants off of that County.
