I just got back. I wasn’t feeling well this morning, so I didn’t get there until mid-afternoon. As luck would have it, the ANSWER crowd was hours behind schedule.
The Move America Forward group had a good turnout at a few spots by the Capital. The funniest moment came when one of the guys on our side started giving a seminar to the other side on how to use soap. “Lather your body with the soap! You must then rinse! Then repeat!” Okay, a bit silly, but funny.
I’ll admit it was the best-behaved ANSWER march I had ever seen. I walked through them wearing my “commies aren’t cool” t-shirt and nobody gave me a hard time.
There was the usual screaming across the lines and one apparent assault, but the police were there pretty quickly.
The Answer crowd did have a fair number of people wearing head scarfs in the style that Arafat favored. I wasn’t sure if that was a pro-terrorist statement.
Missed seeing you.
We were along the parade route in front of the Navy Memorial.
I had a couple of signs: “Hippies Smell” (which annoyed quite a few of them) and a loaner courtesy of Jimmy Valentine’s Brother. It showed Harry Reid looking dour and the word “Traitor” above it.
Lots of people on our side wanted a picture of that.
I had at least 10 people on the left’s side ask who the picture of Harry Reid was.
I had a lot of fun also with “Fry Mumia”. Several people tried to tell me that Wesley Cook didn’t off that Phila. policeman. A number of people asked why I had that sign since “this protest wasn’t about that.” I didn’t let them off the hook though, mentioning their side’s support for him.
I heard that. I was across the street and NW of you.
No kidding, when the front of the march came by, it actually stunk.
I heard that there were 138 arrested. Such fine, upstanding Americans...
