Well I suppose that makes sense. Let’s back a candidate with no track record of ever winning an elected office. After all, if we’re going to waste our vote, let’s waste it on the person with absolutely zero chance of even making an impact on the election.

I haven't chosen a candidate and probably won't for several more months but regardless of that fact the flip side of your argument is to support a candidate with whom you agree on his or her positions on a minority of issues if any for the sole purpose of winning. In the end all you've accomplished is to sacrifice your core principles. Many GOP leaders have done just that in attempt to appease the Socialist Democrats. The only result has been incremental Socialism in the GOP to the point where core Conservative principles have been abandoned.
