OK guys.. Percents are all well and good. But actual vote counts represent people who desired to vote.
Indeed, and I’m rather certain the universe of people in Illinois who turned out to vote for Keyes in 2004 but wouldn’t have voted for George W. Bush is slightly smaller than a few dozen. Presidential elections always have higher turn-outs than off-years; Alan Keyes was not the big draw on the ticket.
