Right on . My very naive, ill-informed wife figured she must be a Progressive, because the idea of “moving forward” sounded good to her. Honest to God. When I defined the positions of Progressives, she didn’t agree with a single one. BUT SHE STILL LIKED THE NAME, AND THOUGHT OF HERSELF AS ONE.
I will have to spend the remainder of my life explaining to her that the desirablility of moving forward depends on whether you’re pointed at a beer or the wrong part of a cliff.
I’m sure I did something in this life or the last to deserve this fate. Whatever it was, I’m really, really sorry.
Makes me wonder how many people are for “affirmative action” because to be against it is a “negative action”.
LOL! Thanks for that pic!
But they would have power. And that would make it all OK.
Does anyone recall a thread here which had a link to a test as to what kind of conservative one is? Or was it if one was a conservative?

It's a smirky, self-flattering way of saying you're a lot better than the rest. That sums it up nicely. Thanks neverdem.
BookmarkedThe word Progressive first became popular in the late 19th century, but has now been adopted as a popular synonym for "socialism." Americans tend not to like socialism, associating it with the Soviet Union and other bad characters. But "Progressivism" sounds fine. So it is a euphemism for something people fear; a cover-up label.
Big Journalism forms its own version of English which is actually a form of Newspeak. In that language, journalists are "objective journalists" - meaning that they toe the comfortable establishment line that second guessing is legitimate because actual performance "in the arena" is in no way superior to journalism's criticism thereof. In that language those who toe the line that journalists' criticism is the important thing, but who themselves are not (presently) employed as journalists, are good guys who are called "liberals," or "progressives," or "moderates." They can have any label they want, except "objective," which is reserved to working journalists and not just those (such as Walter Cronkite) whose attitudes are indistinguishable from those of working journalists.
You are right on.... The below *PROGRESSIVE* school, is former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey’s domain. As well as Hsu, Hillry’s fundraiser, who was a board memeber and worked with Bernard L. Schwartz.

Whatever a Dem,Lib,etc. says just turn it 180 degrees and you’ll have the truth:
Fairness doctrine = no free speech (you keep winning thats not fair!)
Free Health care = If you work it’s not free.
I support the Troops = Gen. Betray Us.
How can anyone over 10 vote for them?
Actually, if you listen it's always "quality" health care. And it means, mediocre health care. Take away freedom, and everyone is a bureaucrat - nobody can do well by working well, so it's "They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work."
They already are using the word 'humanist' in parallel to progressive. So, if you disagree with them, then they can call you a stagnant and inhuman person.
Next step will be to call themselves the most honest Jesus imitators. They think that they are second to Jesus. I know a socialist/liberal, who went trough all this steps.
Whenever I hear the term “progressive” I think of hyphens:
Progressive-Liberals
Progressive-Collectivists
Progressive-Totalitarians
and, of course, Progressive-Communists, Progressive-Socialists, and Progressive-Liars.
