CHENGDU, China - Playing with a sore toe and 11 stitches in her head doesn't seem to bother Abby Wambach.
The top U.S. striker scored both goals Friday in a 2-0 victory over Sweden in the women's World Cup. She now has three in two games, and the win puts the No. 1-ranked Americans in good position to make the quarterfinals.

Darn it: Now IKEA is going to raise prices on that pressed-sawdust furniture upon which our upscale lifestyle depends.
Uhm, that’s women soccer, right?
The approved sport of the U.N.

Saw it this a.m., good strong playing from U.S, hope they perform as well Tues. More exciting game was England-Germany, and the score was nil-nil, go figure, but was a little more awake for the second game. Go USA, proud of those atheletes steady performance. Playing field is all divots, don’t buy Chinese grass seed either.
Soccer? WTFC.

I’m glad to have IKEA, but it ain’t Ethan Allen.

Yeah, I know. Just like to get a rise out of people. My kids play soccer.
Chendu is a hole. Sorry the ladies had to visit that town. I do enjoy womens soccer though. Real fun to watch. Watched the UNC ladies for years and through many title winning seasons when I lived close to Chapel Hill.
Its the worlds top sport for a reason. Much better than our version of football which feature six or eight minutes of play packed into four hours. Yawn.

IKEA is cheap and pretty nice for the price.
