President Bush, defending an unpopular war, ordered gradual reductions in U.S. forces in Iraq on Thursday night and said, "The more successful we are, the more American troops can return home." Still, Bush firmly rejected calls to end the war, saying the insurgents who threaten Iraq's future are a danger to U.S. national security. American troops must stay in the battle, Bush said, and more than 130,000 will remain after the newly ordered withdrawals are completed in July.
"The principle guiding my decisions on troop levels in Iraq is: return on success," the president said.

We will win this war.

Looks like we will, because this man is probably the most resolute President we will see in our lifetimes.

And we’re winning it on our terms, not the terms of surrender and bush-bashing the dims have been praying for since the iraq war started.

defending an unpopular war Love the way EVERY single supposedly "objective" news source worked this propaganda line into their supposed "News Coverage".

He’s not giving up, no matter what. The Democrats have no shame.

It was a great speech. I’d have perfered a demand that Democrats in Congress be censured for their attacks on General Petraeus but knew the President wouldn’t do that.
To: AmericanMade1776
Only if the Dems get the hell out of the way.

There has never been a moment during the last seven years, when I have been ashamed of one thing President George W. Bush has done. He leads, he has strength, and we just ride on his coattails. Thank you President Bush.

I watched the speech....and this may shock some people after my falling out with Bush....BUT...I came away with a renewed respect for the man. I have had a problem with some of his stands on issues....but he KICKED ASS tonight.
You want to know how well he did....check out the reaction of Chris Matthews...he is about to blow a gourd.

I just watched the speech, President Bush was magnificent!
Even Mr. X(aka cranky white male) was impressed.
This MoveOn thing has brought a man like Mr. X back to his senses. He’s animated again; watch out Democrat cowards!

Did you guys see Jack the Democrap’s rebuttal? What a disgrace. He was jumping around like a used car salesman on meth. He essentially promised that Democrats would do their best to undermine everything the President plans to do.

It’s obviously a DNC talking point. The treason of the Democrats never ends. It doesn’t matter if it was 1863 with their attacks on President Lincoln in the midst of the Civil War or now with their discredited smear of the commanding General in Iraq.
To: MNJohnnie
I read that nonsense also and laughed. What war was Popular? I wish I could just punch a reporter.

Game ...set ...match.
Bush.
All the bitching about withdrawing troops they did....he just gave in....but it will be on his terms....I would say he has outfoxed them once again.
