Amen to that, LR.
Marlowe claims she has never seen the "Your Opinion" category on FR, either...to which this thread was posted.

Too late. The damage has been done. There is already a link to this "news story" on another forum. It was listed there as an actual article. It is already in all the search engines.
I'm done here.
Why is this posted in News/Activism???
This is a fake speech and needs to be pulled or edited.
A few weeks back, someone posted a link to a video of “What if CNN were around for D-Day”. I enjoy these what-if articles/postings. Thanks.
No Harm, no foul.

Thanks, Rabid. :)
By the way, Dewey was not the only politician Marshall saved from blowing a big secret. In 1943, the Senate's Truman Committee, which was dedicated to exposing waste, fraud, and mismanagement in the war effort, was gearing up to investigate two huge industrial complexes, in Tennessee and Washington. At least a billion dollars had gone in, but nothing was coming out. Marshall went to see Senator Truman and said, "I have instructions from the President to ask the Truman Committee to give us the benefit of the doubt on that and not to make any inspection of it. This is a personal request of the President of the United States." [Source]
Of course, those factories did indeed turn out some highly useful gadgets, and two years later, President Truman got to drop two of them on two Japanese cities.
