“Hey Fred:
For those of us who DO remember the details, and who felt that the authorities allowed an innocent woman to be killed, your answer seems pretty evasive and unsatisfying.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Here, we had a situation where one of our citizens was tortured and murdered by court decree, and the government did little, beyond lip service, to stop it.
If I was commander-in-chief, I would have sent the friggin’ ARMY in there to stop this, and dared the powers-that-be to impeach me for it. To me, this was a moral turning point in our country - and our country went the wrong way.
I’ll support Fred Thompson, if he gets the nomination, but he’s already put me off by his “I’m too special to announce and debate with those other guys” attitude, and he’s put me off further with this lame “I don’t remember... what was that again?” answer.
I think what is getting lost here is that he was NOT asked about Terri Schiavo. He was asked his opinion on the US congress getting involved in her specific case.
Two very different questions.
