I think that the NYT could care less, and will probably tell Rudy that if he wants to run a full page ad, he will have to pay the regular rate.

Hey you Rudy haters got to admit... we can use more of this aimed at the defeat and despair party and their media. Chewing each other just encourages the status quo.

MoveOn is a 527 IIRC and can receive unlimited donations.

Of course they'll stiff him because in their bizarro world they aren't the biased party. But the ploy is good red meat for the rest of the country.
I like Rudy's stones.

Its the equivalent of attacking Time or the Saturday Evening Post. As dying as the NYT is, it's still the top of the food chain for all the rest of the lib publications; much different still than the 2 you mention.
Nice to see Rudy attack them in the war cause.
To: Clemenza
Yawn. Dole criticied the NY Times too. Its just not worth one's while to attack what is essentially a dying publication. Its the equivalent of attacking Time or the Saturday Evening Post. Hah! I bet Fred wished he thought of it first. Hopefully he'll come along and up Rudy's ante against the "dying publication" that revealed classified information to the enemy.

I'm sure someone will come along with a Noo Yawk Post Headline (all in caps) on this same subject.
The Murdoch media really wants a Giussolini/Hitlery match.

If Rudy gets the nod - he will go after Clinton like she has never seen before and, of course, she will do the same - but, Rudy’s stuff is probably all out there by now - she hasn’t even been questioned relating to her stuff. I’m thinking that Fred would do the same - so I’m with Fred or Rudy.

If Fred had thought to do it there would be back-slapping and high-fiving all around.
I hate Rudy's stand on immigration and his family situation leaves me queasy, but I'll give credit where credit is due.

Gee Rooty, be a real rebel, you can afford to buy your own ad. Prove what a man you are. We are conservatives. We don’t play with the ridiculous NYT and their idiots.
Stand up Rooty, pay the fee, and show them a real man does not ask for freebies like the pathetic libs and socialists.
Oh wait, you need to pander. Got it!

I wonder if the discounts are common for democrat candidates across the board, e.g. TV, newspapers, etc. - is this just one case?

If I was one of the NYTs advertisers like Macys, I would be demanding the same rate as MoveOnYep--and no matter what anyone thinks about Giuliani, he was first to seize the moment with the apropos response. Smart move.

Good for you CapatinK. I’d advise Fred supporters to remember that Fred has to convince people to vote for him. Attacks by any candidate’s supporters usually don’t endear the candidate to anyone except the already convinced. And Fred Thompson already has the old white guy curmudgeon vote. :-)

NautiNurse, I agree. there isn't too much I agree with Rudy on when it comes to social issues, but he has the defend America part down pat.
I hope in the next administion he is made Head of Homeland Security.

Moveon is a tax exempt organization, so the only way to ding the Dems is to get the NYT in a campaign donation scandal.

“As much as I dislike Rudy, Im glad he is pushing this issue!”
Any of the leading GOP candidates could have been first on this issue. Give Rudy credit for being quick, smart and agressive.
