Three police officers seriously injured after shootout

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Three Miami-Dade Police officers are injured following a shootout at an apartment complex. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has transported two of the officers to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Police say the shooter, possibly armed with an AK-47, is described by witnesses as a 28-year-old heavy-set male with a full beard and short hair, wearing a blue shirt. Authorities say he was driving a white Honda Civic with a black hood with the tag W10 4TD.

The vehicle took off northbound on the Turnpike in the southbound lanes just off Southwest 281st Street.

MDPD have set up a perimeter in the area between Southwest 108th Avenue and Southwest 105th Avenue on Old Cutler Drive, where witnesses last spotted the vehicle.

"Police say the shooter, possibly armed with an AK-47..."

Weird. Wasn't there some guy tied to terrorism arrested in Michigan this week who was carrying an AK-47?
