Two Miami-Dade police officers have been injured in a so-called Tactical Operation gone bad in Cutler Bay.
This is currently a developing story that began at SW 281st Street and 143rd Court in Cutler Bay where the two officers were possibly shot, reportedly with an assault rifle.
Other officers may have also been hurt but only with minor injuries.
At least one officer has been transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
After the shooting, one suspect barricaded himself inside a building at 280th Street and Southwest 143RD Court.
The other suspect took off in a White Honda Accord and began driving on the Turnpike and led police on a short chase before he bailed out at 222nd Street and SW 110th Avenue.
That suspect, described as a chubby white man with long black hair remains on the loose.
Broward County police agencies have been alerted to the shooting of the Miami-Dade Officers.
This is a developing story so keep checking back here on CBS4.COM for updates
Bookmark to catch up in the morning....
Won’t comment on the shaved hair at the scene.
Did say the cops had no way of knowing what they were getting into.
“They were ambushed by a high powered assault rifle.”
This is going badly.
They were attacked by a gun, not by some psycho killer.
IMHO this guy won’t turn up until he attacks someone else.
The cops will need a trail of bodies to find this guy.
If, they actually know who they are looking for.....
Presser in a moment.
NBC 6 kicked the weather dude off the air.
Ooops, empty podium, dead air.
Wait....
Anchor dude said presser is delayed until 8:00 EDT.
Given the descriptions, pictures, etc.
Is there anyone that this guy doesn't look like?
Presser now pushed back to 8:15 pm EDT.
Was scheduled for 7:00 EDT.
IMHO they don’t have beans and aren’t going to say squat.
What a mess.....
Good one!
The police still refuse to let people back in their homes, most have been waiting for 9 hours, Red Cross finally showed up and gave them food and water.
Wow, is this unusual or what?
I could never be an investigator...this kind of haphazard crap annoys the heck out of me. I won't even watch police action shows for that reason.
He may or may not be female?
Thanks- tuned in but see now it’s been pushed back- so will have to switch channels- BOR will be on - he never gets interrupted unless it’s huge..
REFUSE?????
I hope that’s all it is.
This guy dropped 4 cops, tossed an ID stolen months ago, and/or duped a female into diverting LE, E&E further, long enough to put half an army on yet another false trail, and is still on the loose.
Further, an ordinary motorist, or at most, the subject of a burglary investigation, was equipped and skilled enough to accomplish all that.
If that’s not enough, there are unanswered questions floating around regarding a months old purchase of 3 reasonably capable weapons, possibly equipped with happy switches, in which case would be worth about $45k, and the potential use of body armor. That’s a pretty heavy MO for a pickpocket or hood-rat burglar.
A massive CF is probably the most benign explanation that connects all the dots we have been presented with so far.
“Wow, is this unusual or what?”
I don’t like the “feel” of this whole thing.
Heat index of 98F there and they make homeowners stand around outside.
What a mess....
BAAAAAAA......
LOL, the police still “can’t allow” residents back in their homes!
Better?
No.
Ok- so after 9 plus hours..why is it they haven’t cleared the houses in the neighborhood so people can go back home?
OR- are they convinced for some reason he’s still IN the neighborhhod?
Anyway, reporter just said residents can’t return to homes yet, police are still in neighborhood.
Yikes, he could be in someone’s home hiding out.
Scary.
