If you will recall, the position BEFORE the Supreme Court decision allowing abortions under "privacy rights", regulation of abortion WAS considered a state matter. I'm ignoring nothing.

At one time, slavery was considered a state matter. The Constitution shouldn't be used as an excuse to deny people their inalienable, God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
That goes for slavery, abortion, and foreign policy.
