First orbital sat, first launch and reentry of an animal, first animal in orbit, first man in orbit, first woman in space, first pix of the backside of the moon, first pix of the surface of Venus, stuff like that. The AK-47, most popular infantry rifle. Some important nuclear breaktrhroughs.
But it was a long time ago, for sure, that they did anything comparable.
