Neither the McCanns nor their legal team have been told the contents of the dossier of evidence presented to a judge.
They will only find out why police believe they are responsible for their daughter's disappearance if and when they are charged.
However the dossier is almost certain to contain 10 key elements:
1 Forensic evidence: Last month samples were taken from the McCanns' holiday apartment and their Renault Scenic hire car and sent for analysis to the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham. After the test results reached Portugal last week, the McCanns were re-interviewed and declared formal suspects or "arguidos".
Reports alleged that the samples included large amounts of Madeleine's hair, as well as bodily fluids, recovered from the car boot.
2 Toxicology reports: The Forensic Science Service is understood to have carried out toxicology tests on the samples to check whether Madeleine may have been drugged or poisoned.
Detectives are said to have asked the McCanns whether they sedated their daughter.
3 Interview transcripts: The McCanns have been interviewed repeatedly by police since Madeleine went missing 132 days ago.
Last week, Kate McCann was questioned for 16 hours over two days. Detectives are reportedly unconvinced by the answers the McCanns gave to several key questions. The couple are also said to have exercised their right of silence on some questions.
4 Statements from the McCanns' friends: The police must establish that there was an opportunity to kill Madeleine and for her parents to dispose of her body before charges can be considered. The statements of the seven friends who were with them on the night Madeleine went missing will be crucial in determining their movements.
5 Statements from other witnesses: Dozens of other witnesses, many of them locals, have provided statements about what they saw on May 3 and how the McCanns behaved on holiday. They may include evidence from Pamela Fenn, who was in an apartment above the McCanns, and another witness who has allegedly described the way Kate McCann dealt with her children.
6 Phone tap evidence: Police are said to have been bugging the McCanns' phones and intercepting their emails for weeks. Reports in the Portuguese press have suggested that some of their conversations may have contradicted statements they gave to police. One newspaper suggested that the phone taps had helped satisfy police that the couple believed their daughter was dead. Gerry McCann has told friends: "The police are listening to every word we say."
7 Background reports: Portuguese police are reported to have spent considerable time investigating the McCanns' family background in a search for any evidence that they may have mistreated their children or have any hidden motive for wanting to harm them. Portuguese newspapers have reported something which the family have dismissed as an attempt to smear them.
8 Surveillance: The McCanns are believed to have been under discreet video surveillance.
9 Videos of police 'cadaver' dogs: Dogs trained to detect decomposing bodies are reported to have reacted to the "smell of death" in the McCanns' apartment, in their hire car and on Kate McCann's clothes. Police showed Mrs McCann videos of the dogs barking when they checked the car.
10 Timeline: The police will have compiled a comprehensive timeline of events to explain who was where at what times.
If they’re innocent, they should take a lie-detector test.
“If theyre innocent, they should take a lie-detector test.”
The day or two Jessica Lunsford’s body was found the police “leaked” that her grandparents’ lie detector tests were “suspicious.” Everybody looked to them for a moment.
Maybe Mrs. McCann knows for sure.
In any event, that was not the correct response.

IF, and thats IF, they did oversedate the kid there would be no gross lesions for which blood could be spilled. If they managed to hide the body for a few weeks - wait, THATS gotta be a challenge! - the blood would clot in the vessels which would hardly lead to the loss of "trace amounts of blood" during the transport of her body.
I think they pissed-off the Portugese police who have been made to look incompetent. So now the cops have a lead suspect(s) and too bad for the parents if they are innocent.
Wrong answer.

Dr. Baden, whose the coroner guy who is always on Fox News, thinks this is all trumped up. He says a car would stink to high heaven if a decomposed body had been in it, and that there would be no blood after 25 days, just liquid goo. And that the parents both being doctors, they would never have put a decomposed body, even if wrapped in plastic, into the boot of a car where it might leak. And that even if the McCann’s had sedated their kids w/medicine, it wouldn’t be enough to cause one of them to die. Plus he says the parents transported all of Madelaine’s clothes in the boot of the car when transferring it from the hotel to their villa which could leave some traces of DNA. Also, he says it is easily ascertained whether hair is from a dead person as versus one who was still alive, under the microscope. Therefore, any hair found in the boot, if it came from transferring clothes, would be found to have been from Madelaine before she died, rather than afterwards. I trust Dr. Baden. He knows this is a setup.
How could that be? All hair is dead.
**Madeleine McCann ‘died of sleeping pill overdose’** Quote
No one reasonable believes that either parent deliberately killed Maddie. However, Gerry allegedly admitted to the Portugese police that he/they (?) had administered a mild (?) sedative to the kiddies before going out to eat/drink/party at a nearby tapas bar. The police found 3 syringes in a drawer in their suite.
Even the McCann’s friends/spinmeisters who appeared on CNN international this morning would only talk about OTHER parenting issues, all positive of course. They flatly refused to comment on the child sedation issue. Go figure!
So... we have:
1. Parents who left tiny infants unattended and, except for 1 of the 4 couples who seem to have been a bit more responsible, without electronic baby monitors.
2. Parents who drugged their children so that they could enjoy and adult evening out with friends.
3. Parents who had to cope with Maddie, a hyperactive little girl who often screamed and who had cried out for her “Daddy” the night before (Mrs Fenn’s testimony) and whose right eye had a coloboma (GOOGLE this word “coloboma” plus “CHARGE” syndrome to learn the significance)... A child like this can be a handful. Is it possible that both parents, unbeknownst to each other, could have doubly sedated her before leaving? Was her death a tragic overdose accident which then had to be covered up?
WHY WOULD RICHARD BRANSON STICK HIS NECK OUT TO COVER LEGAL EXPENSES FOR PARENTS LIKE THIS? SURELY THE RECENT FINDINS AND RESULTING CLOUD OF SUSPICION WOULD WARRANT A BIT MORE DUE DILIGENCE ON HIS PART!
