Actually, the trucks would likely transport other goods or raw materials back to Mexico. There’s no profit in running empty loads, and absolutely no profit in abandoning $100,000 dolllar vehicles after each trip.

And since the program closely tracks these truckers, who are identified and cleared, it’s unlikely they are trying to sneak in as illegal immigrants.

They won’t be able to do in-country runs, so unless companies break the law they have no choice but to go back.

And we DO inspect quite a few loads, so there would be a good possibility of them being caught if some company tried to pay them cheap to run things from one state to another.

I’m more concerned that the trucks don’t meet safety standards and the drivers aren’t trained for U.S. driving conditions.

I’m sure the feds will give this the same meticulous care they have given our borders and employment roles.

It is rather amusing that one of the prevailing assumptions appears to be that these Mexican trucks will deadhead back across the border.

Uh huh...Stand at the Port of Long Beach, watch the dozens of super structure cargo ships coming in from China every day, loaded down far below the water line, and watch most all of them leave empty, or with scrap metal, empty containers etc.

You need to convert the value to pesos...

And since the program closely tracks these truckers, who are identified and cleared, it’s unlikely they are trying to sneak in as illegal immigrants.

That is rediculous, closely tracking??? And throwing the whole transporting of illegal aliens or themselves for that matter is preposterous...And no where near the real issue concerning these trucks...But I see you addressed that on down in your statement...

They won’t be able to do in-country runs, so unless companies break the law they have no choice but to go back.

Please cite the section in the law that says they cannot do runs inside our borders??? But only runs from our side to theirs, and vice versa??? Or is this another "tracking" check that keeps this from happening???

And we DO inspect quite a few loads, so there would be a good possibility of them being caught if some company tried to pay them cheap to run things from one state to another.

Prove it...What agency is supposed to keep track of all of this??? Sure there are state to state check points, but there are ways around that...How about they just keep doing runs in one state, and do not cross state lines??? Going to be real difficult to keep up with that deal...

I’m more concerned that the trucks don’t meet safety standards and the drivers aren’t trained for U.S. driving conditions.

Absolutely...I don't think anyone will dissagree with this issue there...But thats only half the problem...

You believe there is an agency that has the time, resources, personnel, money (budget) to keep up with just this little facet of the issue...If you know who that is, I would certainly like to hear about how that may be...I have an idea what you might say, but I want to hear it from you...Then we can go from there...
