If youd like ON or Off the Nascar at FR racing threads & stuff Ping List, let me know via Private Reply. Thanks!
This is not a High Volume Ping List and is intended primarily to alert folks of the posting of the weekly Nascar qualifying and race threads. Occasional sports or military or prayers Pings using the list may also be sent as situation or subject dictates. Profanities, flame wars and belligerence in observing common sense rules and family decency standards on the thread may result in serious sanctions so be nice. :-)

New Hampshire has always been my favorite track. I love the setting, the track surrounded by the mountains. Sure, Bristol and Richmond are fun to watch. But New Hampshire is just ideally scenic.

Very nice open for the thread and the Chase guys.

Towers of Life
They stood hushed and glimmering in the night,
Giants able to frame the moon,
Slumbering magnificently in their might.
Day breaks and the sun gently warms their skin,
Veins begin to pulse with life,
The sprit of a thousand of kin.
Evil tears towards them through the brilliant morning sky,
Propelled by the blackest of hate,
Guided by a lie.
Barely risen they stand with no defense,
Innocent and distracted they are not prepared,
The pain about to be inflicted intense.
Like a bolt of lighting that shatters the morn,
Evil crashes once then twice into their sides,
Their bodies are scorched and torn.
Horribly crippled they continue to stand,
Holding onto life until the last,
Orders are given, they take the command.
The battle is brief, the giants begin to yield,
Life drains from every artery,
Their fate is sealed.
Collapsing to zero,
First to one knee then to the next,
From their dust will emerge so many a hero.
The question is asked,
How can such evil exist.

So, is there going to be a “DEI/Dale engine failure lap” pool this week, to go along with the “Montoya Caution Lap”
pool?

Talladega testing continues - with tweaks
SCENEDAILY - 1:28PM ET TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2007 - BY KENNY BRUCE - ASSISTANT MANAGING EDITOR
TALLADEGA, Ala. - Tuesday’s early-morning speeds were much slower as NASCAR’s Nextel Cup Series teams hit the track with a slightly different package for the second day of testing of the car of tomorrow at Talladega Superspeedway.
Changes included the use of a smaller restrictor plate - 31/32nds of an inch instead of the 1-inch plate used on Monday - and a reduction in the height of the wicker on top of the rear wing - from 1 1/4 inches to 1 inch.
We can make the cars go 190 on average with no plates, but once the cars are running together, they’d be way over 200 mph,” said Penske Racing driver Ryan Newman. “There’s a happy medium NASCAR is looking for, and I’m fully aware of that.”

So, is there going to be a DEI/Dale engine failure lap pool this week,
This whole thing isn't even funny anymore - I heard some idiot on one of the sports channels saying that Junior pushed his engines too hard, and I'm thinking "if he was lapping the entire field, sure he might be pushing the engines too hard, but he was just trying to finish in the top 10, how is that pushing your engines too hard".
I don't think it was a conspiracy, because with Junior out of the Chase, that means Truex has to go it alone, something that will be difficult. While they've written off Junior, Truex is going to be the franchise player next year.
I think it's incompetence somewhere. If Junior is truly getting the same engines that Menard and Truex are, then something is up. Somebody, somewhere does not know what they are doing.
Like I said elsewhere, Junior is too nice of a guy at times - his dad would have been showing some people the door if he had 6 blown engines through 2/3 of the season.

I don't read David Poole all that often, but he had a good column posted on TR today,
Toyota and Gibbs operation have the same goal: winning races and I like the fact that he is speaking the truth:
Make no mistake, however, this was the true beginning of the manufacturers foray into NASCARs top series. Toyota participated in Nextel Cup in 2007. In 2008, it starts competing.
Theres no kind way to say this, but if the teams using Toyotas this year were building Fords, Chevrolets or Dodges, theyd struggle, too. Michael Waltrip Racing and Team Red Bull started from scratch, and Bill Davis Racing had been wandering in a NASCAR purgatory until it actually got to start racing Camrys in 2007.
I like Michael Waltrip and his bunch, but they have got some serious management problems, and I think the stress has affected him on the track (and off).
Toyota hit the jackpot with JGR, and JGR got what it wanted - to be the top team for a manufacturer, something it couldn't get at GM or Ford.

Infield Parking has a free Chase Fantasy Game
http://www.infieldparking.com/
With the 2007 season winding down, we thought wed have a little fun with the chase. This game is easy to play, and its free! Grand prize winner will receive 4 All-Access Pit Passes and Tickets for 4 to the race of their choice in 2008.
Top 10 runners up will receive a prize pack from Harley Davidson & Infield Parking.
BTW What race would everyone choose to go to if they won?
I’m thinking Daytona.
