I was taking care of my one-year old daughter and we were watching Sesame Street together at the time, and my girlfriend at the time called me from work and told me to "TURN ON THE F--KING NEWS!!!!" So I flipped it to the Today Show and watched some history.

And I remembered Tom Brokaw's dumb comment (before the buildings came crashing down) "You think they're going to have to tear the buildings down, Katie?" UH, WHAT DO YOU THINK TOM??

No comment was more stupid than Katie Couric exclaiming as the second plane hit
“ Oh my..yes, it does look like there is a problem with air traffic control as another plane as hit the second tower “
I heard that live along with her telling us the first plane hitting the tower more than likely had been due to problems with air traffic control.

That's funny. I remember hearing Brokaw on the radio(must have been a simulcast). He was ranting about how George Tenet and the CIA were at fault, and I remember thinking how in the face of such a tragedy could someone be looking to pin the blame on someone else even before the fires go out and the bodies are cold. Just tasteless, eventhough he was at least partly right in his statement.

I was getting ready to go and meet friends for breakfast at the airport ( where it subsequently turned out that Muhammed Atta trained) when I turned on the TV to see the first smoking tower.

The conjecture was, at that time, that it was a freak accident, I wasn't convinced.

Just then the second plane hit, I was dumbstruck, I called my girlfriend (now my wife) and said "Turn on the TV", she said "what Channel?", I said "Any damn channel you want"..
