Woman held, suspected of hitting man with purse
Orange County Register ^ | September 10, 2007 | MARLA JO FISHER

LAGUNA BEACH - A 19-year-old woman was jailed on suspicion of hitting her boyfriend with her purse Sunday at about 2 p.m. on Cliff Drive.

A Laguna police officer was driving by and began videotaping the incident, according to Laguna Beach Sgt. George Ramos.

The boyfriend tried to restrain her from swinging her purse at him, but she began hitting him again, this time with her hands and fists, police said. At that point, the officer intervened, made them both sit on the curb, and then took the woman into custody.

Apparently, the couple, who live together in Paramount, had parked their car on Cliff Drive but then the woman balked, Ramos said.

“She did not want to walk down to the beach,” Ramos said.

A 19-year-old woman was jailed on suspicion of hitting her boyfriend with her purse ... the couple, who live together...

This is not the country in which I grew up, though it has the same name...

A 19-year-old woman

If she'd been shot and killed, she'd be a "child victim of gun violence." Liberal media: what is she, woman or child?

As pointed out in another thread, women initiate violence in ‘domestic’ situations MORE than men do (men do more damage but there are plenty of cases of severe damage or attempt to injure on the other side.) Women more prone to use weapons (like a purse) also.

This kind of thing happens all the time, only reason she’s charged is because a cop was watching it.

What a reason for hitting someone (I don’t wanna!)

I am sure the Wendy Murphys of the world reading this must be chortling and/or saying “How do we know he didn’t initiate this attack?”

Poor guy. You're not supposed to hit a woman. You can just stand there and let her beat you black and blue.

Ridiculous, isn’t it? The officer really didn’t have a choice: if it had escalated later and the woman had been hurt, it would have cost his job.

If the man didn’t have a purse maybe women wouldn’t pick on him! He must have looked like a sissy boy!

What?

Oh!

Never mind

I wouldn't hit her back either. I'd send my sister over to beat the hell out of her, though.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket When I go out with a "purse" I've got the womens' attention.

Though I'm in kilt and the "purse" is that pouch called a "sporran" (which is Gaelic for... purse). Women just love men in Highland kilts...
It's interesting, though. In other cultures, European (somewhat) and Asian men carry handbags -- I think they called them "manbags" when they tried to introduce them here.

I have a very nice gift of an Asian man's handbag. But I still like my pockets (or sporran) better, for all that I carry less.

I never hit my ex, but I did put her to the ground and hold her to keep her from hurting me. It’s too easy in CA to go to jail as a male, even if you’re defending yourself.

BTW, I never believed in flying saucers till I met her.

Gives new meaning to the J. Geils song "First I Look at the Purse."

The opening few lines:

Some fellas look at the eyes

Some fellas look at the nose

Some fellas look at the size

Some fellas look at the clothes

I don't care if her eyes are red

I don't care if her nose is long

I don't care if she's underfed

I don't care if her clothes are worn

First I look at the purse!

BS.....there is no evidence that women initiate domestic violence more than men...if that evidence does exist, its tainted, because we have women that are afraid to say anything or report abuse or even leave the situation....

so women use "weapons" like a purse....wow wee....
