By an overwhelming 81-10 vote, the Senate passed Sen. Vitter’s amendment to prevent any funding to foreign organizations that infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of lawful American citizens. Any organization that adopts a policy anathema to the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment would no longer be eligible for U.S. financial assistance—including the U.N.

Just a thought... does that include the U.S. Senate, the U.S. Congress and any states that have done so?

I didn't think so.

I think I read on here that the UN gets at least half their funding from us?

Kudos to Vitter and the NRA. I realize it’s just an amendement attached to an existing bill otherwise it wouldn’t have gotten 81 votes. But, given that kind of support in the senate it should make it through the house and onto Bush’s desk.

These elitists abd 3rd world tin-horns really chafe at the thought of law-abiding citizens ability to defend themselves and not just roll over. It just doesn’t comport very well with their world view.

Support the NRA.

Needed to be repeated. Hell, we can't let foreign organizations take away rights that only the American Congress does.

Just doing the job that feigners won't do

Thanks for the vote. I tried to find the text of the amendment, but I had no luck.

President Giuliani (and all his LIBERAL buddies) will have lots to offer on this issue--along with LOTS of BI-PARTISAN support.

From the NY Times,,,,,

Democratic lawmakers praised the Mayor's push for gun control. "It would be great if Mayor Giuliani could become the point Republican pushing comprehensive gun control legislation," said Representative Charles E. Schumer, the Brooklyn Democrat who is the leading proponent of handgun control in the House of Representatives.
--New York Times, March 8, 1994

It looks like President Giuliani will have lots of bi-partisan cooperation for this issue and many others on his LIBERAL 'WIDE STANCE' social agenda.
