I worry less about schools than I do about other large gathering places such as stadiums, shopping malls, churches, or public events at the National Mall. Americans are kidding ourselves if we think that this danger is limited to one specific area of our geography and to public schools only.

Imagine a terrorist at any large sporting event - hundreds of thousands of people on national television. That chills me to the bone.

So, please don't be duped into thinking that because you home-school, your children are 'safe.' No one is safe as long as terrorists are allowed to walk across our borders bringing anything they want with them.

I respectfully disagree. I worry more about this. This is what they want -— to create a Holy War. What will our reaction be? Burning down mosques? Maybe. Muslims around the world will align with the radicals because we are burning their mosques.

didn’t Tom Clancy write a book about terrorists shooting up a mall at Christmas time? I think about it happening whenever I am in a mall.

SBM: A parent with the gumption to remove his/her kids from the gummint ignorance factories (P.S. 666) is a parent who is protecting his/her kids in more ways than one. Homeschooled kids are a LOT less likely to be targeted by the Islamofascisti because they are not being gathered up and made available en masse for slaughter as happened in Russia a couple of years ago or at Columbine or at many other gummint skewels.

Additionally, the kids are protected from idiot liberal teachers who think that the Islamofascisti are just misunderstood and need only non-stop automatic butt-smooching from Americans to be nicer.

To say nothing, of course, of the involvement of Planned Barrenhood in twisted tax-paid gummint skewel curricula to recruit the inmates of gummint skewels to the culture of the death of the innocent, the clandestine trips to the abortion mills for pregnant students to keep mom and dad out of the loop, the relentless anti-Americanism of many of the teachers and their unions, the despicably inept performance of gummint skewels in conveying basic literacy, numeracy and the basics of Western Cvilization to the inmates, the drop out rates, the ever-slipping performance on standardized tests, the endless excuses that amount to blaming the parents who probably (due to the ridiculous waste of financial resources that is gummint skeweling's hallmark) are working their butts off and cannot spend as much time with their own kids as do the brain laundry operators at P.S. 666, etc., etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

The gummint skewels are the parochial skewels of the secularist and anti-American left. They are a toxic environment for children. The sooner that the failed experiment in gummint skeweling is abolished the better. Let the market provide the alternatives. Not only that but the market will provide alternatives in which parents can bring their kids up without so much as a by your leave to obtuse leftist skewel administrators and without wasting infinite time on the impossible: trying to force common sense into their worldview.

The late great bank robber Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks. He said: Because that is where the money is.

Why, in the same vein, will Muhammed el Kaboomski slaughter children at gummint skewels? Because that is still where most kids can be found because it's FREE!!! or convenient!!! or whatever other airheaded excuse appeals to any given parent.

I disagree. The terrorists desire to cause as much anguish as they can with as little danger to themselves as possible. Only in places like NYC with weapons bans could they consider themselves safe enough to go into shopping malls and stadiums. In my state you can carry a concealed gun. If they can’t be sure of who is armed, they won’t take the chance. They are cowards and it’s not worth it to them to possibly die without achieving their objective.

But we have outlawed guns at schools, particularly elementary, middle, and high schools. I read that their ideal situation is having the girls old enough to rape while the boys are too young to stop them. Elementary and middle school would seem to fit the age range they are looking for. But, I am sure they looked very closely at what happened at VA Tech. Since no guns were allowed there.

There are other things that have happened that point to them looking to hit our schools, and I have no doubt that they desire to strike where the terror would be greatest — our children.

If what I saw yesterday is typical, you’ll be pleased to hear that it might be difficult to pull off at a large sporting event. I just went to the Steelers-Browns game in Cleveland yesterday, and was pleased to see that bags were searched (often dumped into plastic bags), metal detectors were used and everyone was patted down. I don’t see how a bomber or someone attempting mass casualties could have made it through the gates - the most they could have done was hurt a number of people as they gathered to go through security.

Considering the incidents surrounding schools buses and middle eastern looking men, I would have to disagree.

The other reason is that kids spend far more time in school than they do anywhere else. It’s predictable, anyone can find out the school schedule, and the kids are guaranteed to be there for several hours per day, 5 days a week. If I run to the mall or go to a sporting event, it’s a few hours at most and not regularly. I’m not there very often, so my chances of being there when something happens are comparatively slim.

You’re right that an attack at a sporting event or crowded mall would get a bigger kill, but for managability, a school would be an easier target. It would just be far stupider for them to go after our kids. They wouldn’t want to face the backlash.

Sorry, I do feel that my kids are safer from a terrorist attack being homeschooled simply because they’re spending less time out of the house. That alone reduces the risk.

The only place in my safe little town that I’m nervous about entering is the Catholic hospital. It has a no guns tolerated policy, making it a target rich environment.

Worry about the schools. Security is tight at the stadiums, but loose at the schools.

“I worry less about schools than I do about other large gathering places such as stadiums, shopping malls, churches, or public events”

Then you don’t understand what Muslim terrorists want.
