I do not for a moment believe that you would feel any type of satisfaction if my school were bombed and I was killed because I teach in a public school. You would be horrified beyond words. Nor do I think you would feel any more relaxed because I was targeted and you weren't. Your stress level would go through the roof.
I'm attempting to take the argument to a higher level and away from some of the pettiness that surfaces when home-schooling and public schooling comes up. This is not about where you educate your child or where I educate mine. This is about all Americans being targets because we are Americans.
Yes, I know about school threats - I also remember a mall being shot up, and an airplane going into buildings, and I have read about plans for multiple drive-by shootings at golf courses and attacks at sporting events and other large gatherings.
So while your chances may be slim - can you imagine how much smaller your world will become if another attack happens? We cannot all hide in our houses and rate the risk of a given activity before we engage.
And if we want to get right down to where the meat hits the bone, wouldn't one think that Jewish private schools would be the most at risk? That doesn't make me think I am safer - it angers me that any of us are at risk.
Arriverderci. Ciao! Auf wiedersehen! Buh-bye!
