Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA) "defiantly declared Friday that he will not retire from Congress despite increasing Republican concern that if he runs for a 10th term next year, the seat could fall to Democratic challenger Charlie Brown," the Sacramento Bee reports.

Said Doolittle: "I will not step aside. I am running again. Period."

Jack Abramoff employed Doolittle’s wife while Doolittle was passing laws designed to benefit Abramoff.

And working for someone is what? Illegal? The FBI subpoenaed her records in 2004. Has any federal agency (or other law enforcement group) brought any charges against her or publicly alleged wrongdoing? It seems to me that many are getting their talking points from Charlie Brown.

Also, what if Doolittle is the nominee but loses the general election? Do you really think it’s worth the risk?

I believe in the "innocent until proven guilty" theory. Should George Bush have not run for President because of his association with Harken Energy Corp? After all, it was a risk!

BTW, I have no problem with anyone wanting to challenge Doolittle in a primary. I do have a problem with people making allegations in the absence of evidence to support them.

He got caught up with Abramhoff. He at least did not have the skills to get away with it like the Dem’s. Even if he were by some chance innocent he should step down and save the seat . We have lost to many seats because people like him. No more, No way! He is slime because he is costing us a safe seat! He needs to step down! Now!

Even if he were by some chance innocent ...

Wow! Convict him based on conjecture and rhetoric and punish him even if he is innocent? I don't like the world you promote!

He has been charged with absolutely NOTHING.

The Democrats (and you apparently) have been trying to slime him for three years now and have been unsuccessful.

Go back to shilling for Giuliani.

I'll wait for any EVIDENCE to support that he is guilty.

He got caught up with Abramhoff.

As did 90% of Republicans on the hill.

He at least did not have the skills to get away with it

Get away with WHAT? He has been charged with NOTHING. His wife disclosed her income, and its sources in public disclosures.

I guess you had already convicted the Haditha Marines and the Duke boys, too!
