We relax by taking our dog to the local dog park and chat with others who bring their dogs. Today, a man sat across from us and began his tirade about the government's conspiracy in blowing up the World Trade Center.
I've heard this before so just nodded and let him continue. His history lesson finally caused me to jump in. He believes that Iran is really our friend and that George Bush is only attempting to gain an excuse to use a nuke.
I then interjected that the current leader of Iran is a believer of the 12th Iman, he didn't have a clue. When I tried to explain his belief of the end of the world, he stated that Iran is our friend and Bush is the believer of Ammagedon.
When I suggested he read "The Looming Tower", and that it just received the Pulitzer, he referred me to the BBC.
The conversation was not heated until I mentioned Clinton's disregard for people, namely women. He jumped up, spit out "who cares, Bush wants to murder people throughout the world", ran out of the park, leaving his wife and his dog.
My friend was extremely upset. He said that my citing sources intiminated the guy. And, that I should refrain from expressing my strong opinions.
I would like to hear from others as to how you would handle a situation like this.
I agree...This situation caused some unnecessary stress.
“After having a discussion with her one day she weepyly told my wife I “wasn’t fair because I used logic” (and she’s a freakin’ SCHOOL teacher).”
That’s pathetic. Please tell me no man married that school teacher woman. Yeesh.
How true and succinctly stated! BTW, your statement would make a great bumper sticker.
“What magazines do you recommend? I swore off mags a long time ago. Couldnt deal with the bias.”
I subscribe to “The Weekly Standard.” There is no bias in it, just meaty, objective, reporting - liberals hate that.
Bump!
You should have ran after him screaming “Gore lost the Florida recount”! Hillary has cankles!
I learned this from speaking with my Progressive-Lib Brother.
He also taught me that you can lead a Lib to Truth but you can’t make them think!
What a poor, deluded idiot.
He would not defend himself from a pitbull even if it jumped up and ripped his balls off his body.
When you have to pretend that you believe that the Constitution actually matters while in fact you believe its language to be an obstacle to “social progress,” your language is not going to be as confident.

I would suggest you handle a Liberal in EXACTLY the same manner as you would an emotional idiot/mental defective.
See if you can glean my unspoken point.
What kind of dog?
“My friend was extremely upset. He said that my citing sources intiminated the guy. And, that I should refrain from expressing my strong opinions. My friend was extremely upset. He said that my citing sources intiminated the guy. And, that I should refrain from expressing my strong opinions.”
I would suggest telling your friend that with that attitude, of becoming sheeple, is exactly what got us to this point.
Being a shrink, I also can offer my colleagues’ business cards to the truthers.
And finally, as another poster stated, use the Socratic method. Just keep asking him questions based on his previous answers until he has talked himself into so many contradictions even he can’t make sense of it.
We believe she is half chihuahua and half cocker.
"He believes that Iran is really our friend and that George Bush is only attempting to gain an excuse to use a nuke."
"Bush wants to murder people throughout the world",
"...he referred me to the BBC."
LoL - no wonder!
The wife may be worthwhile, but I’d let the dog go on its way.
ROFL!! That’s really good advice. I’ll remember that next time I’m in line with a moonbat at the grocery store! You’re trying to get us back on Bill O’Reilly, yeah?
AHH, the OJ Simpson technique.... quite effective
You didn’t change his mind, you couldn’t have changed his mind no matter what you said. You should have just kicked his ass on general principles and be done with the matter.
Could be you’re the only person who’s had the nerve to challenge this guy. If you don’t tell him the truth who will? Of course, you can’t change the mind of a person like that. I believe the need to share these kind of vicious opinions reflect a bitter angry spirit and only Jesus can help him. But you’ll be an inspiration to everyone who heard you, in spite of the initial discomfort with confrontation. Besides, it’s good practice for when you need to argue with someone you care about. Good job!
Beautiful! Can I quote you?
