I’m surprised you don’t know anything about the culture in that area with your screen name being Tillacum??? If you did some reading you would find that they do use ALL the whale and eat the fat and the meat along with using it for oil and other things. In the old days they used harpoons just like in the old days when the Whites also used harpoons. Both use more modern weapons now.

BINGO! The preliminary report said the whale was shot with a .50-caliber machine gun will be found to be a media report - IOW, all dipstick and no substance.

Well, it would save you some work because the squirrel (whatever is left of it) would be nicely shredded and easy for your dogs to chew :-)
The Barretts are WONDERFUL but expensive.....I think that they start at around nine thousand dollars, if I remember correctly. I haven't priced them in a few years......

If the government is going to allow them to hunt why should they tell them how to hunt? Oh, that’s right, because the government has the power to tell them they can’t hunt.

First, so many fall for the "machine gun" crap the AP posts. This demonstrates how liberals can still divide us.
Secondly, the hatred being printed about the indians could be used against all hunters tomorrow.
Some of the above posters cannot see that the tradition of hunting does not mean you have to hunt using traditional means.
Of course, you make a great point about how gov't gets itself involved in matters it has no business getting involved in.

Thanks. You have relieved some of my distress by showing that someone else gets it. I expect that my post went right over the heads of most of these little statists.

It also reveals that their true values are really centered around the cult of Me Me Me. They have no more concept of liberty and the principles this nation was founded on than the liberals. They just like to ride in the conservative boat because it serves their ends better.

fish hawk, you have me pegged. I do believe there are traditions to be followed, story telling, art, learning of the old way, but we’ve progressed beyond the ways of the ancient ones. I personally do not think the killing of whales is a necessary project to show prowess. I’m curious, what does a gray whale meat taste similar to, what is the oil used for, what is done with the bones? When rendering the oil from the fat tissue, what is done with the tissue? Is it eaten like pork rinds? Yes I’ve tasted a piece of “mucktuck”, up north, it isn’t bad.
