This was really strange. I was at the far end of the runway. The planes passed by me, then we covered by the grandstand. I didn't here anything, but there was a huge plume of black smoke. I thought it was pyrotechnics.
The show dis go on, though. The Blue Angles were great, as always, but the USAF F-22 stole the show!
From the video, I suspect something happened to the pilot. Heart attack, stroke, something. Coming out of the echelon he never went into the break, just continued on straight ahead gradually losing altitude (well not all that gradually).
Could have lost the engine I suppose and was just doing his best to bring it in, but it didn't look like that.
