My answer, as articulated here is that there is a conservative Daily Kos, that’s it’s Free Republic, but that it doesn’t really “count” since it’s not a blog, and more critically, it won’t play nicely with the rest of the movement and it doesn’t worship candidates like Kos does.

In my opinion, this is what really bugs them about FR. This is not a Republican site. It is a conservative site and we (well, most of us) don't tolerate non-conservatives even when they dress themselves as Republicans and try to say the right things at the right time just to get our votes.

Yep! That snippet that you quoted is actually quite a compliment. It basically says that the Kos people are sheep and march lock-step in their group think, without question. We (FReeRepublic) on the other hand think for ourselves and if we don’t like something, contrary to majority opinion, we make our position known within the FReeRepublic community.
