There was some talk that they would find his plane set down on a lake bed with Steve waiting for the search party. That was real early on in the search though. I am afraid he may have a medical emergency and flew into the side of a canyon or some such. Would not be much left to find if that was the case.
But maybe he still waiting for the search team. One can hope after all

Over here we have valleys and large gulches. Most A/C and helo crashes occur when a pilot flies up the valley, Not a good practice. I got this skinny from an FAA investigator.
