Upon a quick scan I saw this:
The soft left maintains we cant have been at war with Communism in general because it was that great moderate Communist Mr. Gorbachev who had midwifed this moment. If you were minded to regard the thing as a paranoid delusion, the hot eastern babes sweeping through Checkpoint Charlie to enjoy a Heineken with young western lads would easily confirm a pacifist conviction that left to our own devices we can all rub along.

Good review by Mark Steyn of Norman Podhoretz's new book. We won the Cold War despite the ferocious opposition of the Left. The question now is if can win World War IV against Islamofascism in the face of even more vehement opposition from the Left.

What a superb article. Steyn is so right. This war should always be referred to as the War Against Islamofascism.

So they renamed it the Long War. Which is kind of a bummer.... If youd wanted to make the Global War on Terror seem even more thankless and unending, thats the way to go. Its as if Philip VI had formally declared the start of the Hundred Years War in 1337, and then added he might need a decade or two of wiggle room. Mark Steyn ping
