The ruling allows nearly 1,000 family members and estates to try to collect Iranian assets This appears to make it all pointless.

This decision is not necessarily pointless. It is a judgment under which Iranian assets can be seized to satisfy the claim. Granted, there is little chance of getting Iran to pay short of war, but to the extent the U. S. Government will assist in identifying and seizing financial assets, real estate, and property of Iran outside of Iran it could be meaningful. Going after the assets will be resisted by the State Department because it will rock the boat in placed like the UN, but it can be done if the will exists, and I hope it does.

IIRC the US froze several billions in Iranian assets here in this country years back.
But personally the only 'assets' of the bastards who murdered my brothers I want to see siezed are their heads. And those I want on pikes outside Camp LeJuene.

It's a lot harder to collect on a judgment than it is to make it.
