With RuPaul’s huge gaff during the debate I don’t know how anyone could think he won.
Perhaps the Dr Paul supporters are old-time FReepers who learned how to effectively FReep polls?
Tancredo spent the entire debate laughing at RuPaul.
The fact that they are so good at spamming polls, and are eliciting support from MoveOn Truthers who see it as an opportunity to infiltrate the GOP process, has caused a stir of interest in Paul. And Paul is making much use if this 'surge'.
But as you point out, he's also his worst enemy, so his core support on the Republican ticket will remain relatively small. The threat he may present is by pulling his support after the convention and running as in independent/libertarian.
This anti-war “pull our troops out now” cult like following Paul has smells allot like a Lyndon LaRouche campaign.
Here is my idea for a Ron Paul bumper sticker.

BTW, Fox's poll was only one vote per cell phone. Unless Paul supporters had a dozen cell phones on them each, they pretty much followed the rules. So now Fox is debunking it's own poll.
