the most emotional part - the reading of the names of the victims

I have never understood the point in reading that many names. God knows their names and so do their loved ones.

I agree about the names. I don't think it makes for much of a ceremony, it's more of a way for the families to memorialize their loved ones (although some seem to have a need to stay at the center of attention IMO). Which is fine for them. Have the name reading ceremony by all means but it doesn't have to be broadcast on every network and cable channel.

There will be plenty of memorial ceremonies across the country and the airwaves will be filled will them all day long.
