"I would wait a good few months (and probably more).."

Yes, waiting is good. Makes perfect sense.

How many years should elapse before we say anything?

How long has Natalee been missing?

I’ve suspected the parents ever since I saw an interview with them playing with the other two children, giggling, no sign of stress or worry or tears.

No idea who Natalee is but she is beside the point.

If the parents don’t get convicted of anything (and that will hardly take ontold years if it does happen), then you’re free to blast the police.

I have no clue what happened, but leaving kids in a room within view of the restaurant is not considered negligent in Europe. They could be entirely guilty. But, if that were the case, I would think they would come up with a better story.

It was not the best thing to leave children behind at a hotel room. Something is not right with the parents though. It’s possible, Madeline was accidentally killed and never kidnapped.

That’s what I thought too. Many kidnappings are actually committed by a parent, relative, or friend, 90 to 95 percent of them. Rarely, it is a stranger. Of course they get more media attention. I remember in the mid 1990s, Samuel McKay Everett, a teenager in Conroe got kidnapped and murdered by Hilton Crawford, a family friend. Everett opened the door and abducted him. Crawford was caught and sentenced to death and was executed in 2003.

Sorry, but Europeans DO NOT leave their children alone whilst dining.Quite the opposite.

The Southern Europeans especially have huge family meals where everyone drinks, eats and talks and meals take hours.

Sad, to say the only Europeans that DO leave their children?...the BRITISH AND IRISH.

Apparently there were other parents in the group they were with and they all left their children to go eat each night, taking turns checking on them. So they were with like-minded people as far as leaving the kids.

Here's some more about the case -- from various sources, just summarizing.

1. The previous night or the one before that, the parents left the children alone in the room. Madeliene got very upset and was HOWLING - Daddy, Daddy, Daddy. The other guests complained and the couple was brought back from their social gathering to attend to her by the hotel management.

2. The police have been unable to nail down when was the last time Maddie was seen alive by someone other than her parents. It appears that it may have been as early as 2:00 PM. Meaning no one saw Maddie alive, other than the parents, from 2 PM to 10 PM when she was reported missing.

3. No one has been able to ascertain who among the group friends actually checked on the children and at what times. (The McCanns were having tapas with 9 friends that evening and they supposedly took turns - every 15 minutes checking on the children. However, the exact times and who saw Maddie are unclear.)

4. When the mother discovered Maddie missing, she ran back to the restaurant (about 100 yards) screaming "They have taken her." This is suspicious because a.)wouldn't her first reaction be to assume Maddie had wandered off, b.) why the plural "they," c.)why - if she thought someone had kidnapped her daughter - would she leave her twins alone in the hotel room. Why not call the hotel staff or her husband on a cell phone?

5. The Portuguese police failed miserably upon arrival, not securing the crime scene, not questioning the parents and friends separately, not even searching the room thoroughly, and much more. However the twins slept through the whole thing.

6. McCanns embark on worldwide media blitz.

7. The hapless Portuguese begin investigating the possibility of a stranger abduction, pedophile ring, Satan ritualists, white slavery, black baby market, etc. They even tried to frame an innocent person, searching his house, digging up his garden and destroying his reputation in the media.

8. The British media published every single blunder the Porties made in screaming type.

9. The Portuguese were forced to ask British LE for help.

10. The Brits sent cadaver and trace evidence dogs along with other forensic specialists. They sent information to a lab that is best CSI-type place in Europe.

11. It was revealed that "English Dogs" smelled death in the apt where Maddie disappeared, in the floor of a closet there, in the trunk of a car rented after the disappearance, in Kate McCann's clothing and in a stuffed hippopotamus (Cuddle Cat) that was the girls favorite toy. This has been video taped and is admissible as "something."

12. Madeliene's DNA was found in the apt and it appeared to have been washed.

13. Kate McCann was caught admitting to have washed Cuddle Cat.

14. Both parents were questioned separately (1st time), with lawyer present (1st time), and named official suspects.

15. Their friends from the Tapas bar night will now be reinterviewed on Monday.

16. Over 55 British LE, including detectives, forensic specialists, scientists and officers in their home town are working on the case. (The latter looking for background information.)

Thanks for the info. I’d read this elsewhere, so was just passing along what I’d read. If, as your name indicates, you’re from Scotland, you’d have much more knowledge of this than I do.

“I would wait a good few months (and probably more) before damning the Portugese police.”

“Experts” on talk shows/news casts, including John Walsh, said the police have not conducted a proper investigation from the very beginning. From what I’ve heard, this “blood” they found was detected by dogs, not DNA lab tests. It’s blood, but they don’t know from whom.

after listening to new stories today and reading your list of facts, here are my random thoughts...

Mom is a doctor and may have felt comfortable using sedatives to calm the child so they could go out.
Maybe that is why the twins slept through the whole thing.

The police wanted to ask questions about possible use of sedatives.

We have seen warnings lately in the news about sedatives being more dangerous than previously thought in regards to children.

What makes me go “huh”? Is the police’s question about blood in the rental car.

If they think she accidentally killed Madeline by oversedating her....why would she have been bleeding?

This report, at this time at least, is erroneous. They did interview her, as well as the father. That is common police practice. It’s just that the Portugese didn’t do it as soon as they should have. (According to several people I saw interviewed this morning, the parents always have to be interviewed first, as they are the most likely suspects.)

yes, the whole sedative/blood thing makes no sense and I’ve wondered why the British media has not picked up on this...

Both parents are doctors, so this makes no sense — other than pressure was put on the police to wind everything up fast to save Portugal’s tourist industry.

You have to realize this...the cops have blood droplets from the car they rented...three weeks after the disappearance...which match the kid. The blood was in the trunk. You really have to scratch your head on this. Of course, you could say that it was planted...but only if you had the kid’s body in your hands.

Meanwhile...more than a month ago...the cops started bugging the parents residence...phones...etc. The conversations apparently have led to the full circle. There are enough small bits of talk...which put both parents in a suspicious situation.

The kid was a known “runner”....having hidden for 45 minutes the week prior to the disappearance. When the parents wanted a night out....I suspect they used some mild drug on the kid....which accidentally killed her.

You won’t see much of the family anymore...they will stay right there in England and hope that the British cops don’t go snooping. The Portuguese cops? They have done their job, and can’t shut this case without a body. It’ll be an unsolved case in my judgment. The British cops might not be satisfied and still bug the couple’s phones in hopes of some comment....but this story is virtually ended now.

” You have to realize this...the cops have blood droplets from the car they rented...three weeks after the disappearance...which match the kid.”

that’s what’s really confusing.
So..they returned to Portugal 3 weeks later? And retrieved her body? and moved it?
But dead bodies - especially 3 wk. old dead bodies - aren’t going to drip blood are they?

This is very strange

O.K., thanks. At first I thought it was like the Natalee Holloway case.
