Children's hospital named after Peyton Manning

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Peyton Manning has a collection of MVP trophies and starred in numerous commercials. Now, the Colts quarterback has a children's hospital named after him.

The St. Vincent Children's Hospital was renamed Wednesday as Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent.

Manning has had a strong public and private relationship with the hospitals since he joined the Colts in 1998. He said he was honored to be so closely associated with the children's hospital, which St. Vincent opened in 2003 to care for critically ill and injured children.

"In the NFL, the name on the back of the jersey is emblematic of a player's commitment to contribute in any way he can to the success of that team," Manning said. "For me, having my name on the front of this building carries with it much the same — a weighty responsibility to contribute to the many victories ahead here at St. Vincent."

There is speculation that he has donated at least 50 million dollars... It is nice to see an athlete doing good things with his money and time.

Believe it or not, Peyton Manning is on pace to shatter Brett Favre's record of consecutive QB starts.

Defensive linemen opposing Manning, do your duty.

No real shock...to anyone that heard the National Public Radio
episode on cold-calls for charities some years back.

People from "The South" are generous givers, despite low incomes.
People from "The North" (Democratic/liberal states) are hard to hit
up for charity money. (They, not unexpectedly, presume their
mega-tax-dollars are taking care of every charity case).

Well Done, Peyton
Archie should be humbly proud of raising an accomplished and
decent son.

Here in Indy Peyton has been VERY active in the community, both with his time and his money. The guy is a class act all the way.

From what I have heard, the guy is a complete class act. I was so happy for him to have won the Super Bowl. His coach too!

I'll be there, Aisle 137, Row 17, seat 2. The game will be a homecoming for NO QB Drew Brees who is from Indiana and played college ball at Purdue.

“Hey..let’s give Olivia some credit there, too!”

OK, ok, I’m busted.
And I thank you for your kindly chastening.
Shame on me for not paying attention to Peyton’s mother.

I do pay homage to that “behind every great man...” idea.
And simply didn’t know about Peyton’s mother, thanks to what I hear
on TV...it’s just about Archie, Peyton and Eli.
