It isn't the race, it's the culture. All the more reason to take a long look at the mind dead slacker/Paris Hilton/iPod culture of so many young people. Stupid should not be cool. While not as immediately lethal as the rap/hip hop culture to which it is closely related, the direction of many of our youth is down hill.An example is where Asian youngsters outperform other groups until they have been here a generation or so. Then they "blend in". Something wrong here.

Good point. I have long maintained it has nothing to do with being black. It has everything to do with an urban sub-culture that more resembles a cargo cult. Until the bulk of black folks abandon the race-baiting pimps, I do not see much hope at all for black-urban society.

You are right. Back in the 30’s thru the 50’s black families were mostly intact. The REALLY did face blatant discrimination. Separate schools, lunch counters etc. They WERE poorer too. Guns were legal everywhere just about. We DID NOT see the violence then though. Why?
