...which would have involved viewers in a mass "switch-off" to save energy.

Maybe BBC was afraid that the "switch-off" would include TV sets. Wouldn't be good for business.

The various scandals of the BBC in the past twelve months...probably put the fear of ethics deep into the management staff. You will only hear absolute facts out of the BBC news staff over the next year or two...as each guy walks very carefully down the road and only speaks facts. The fact you haven’t seen a dozen people resign from the BBC...says volumes. Normally....you’d see a dozen folks jump and quit over this type of announcement...so there must be a lot of analysis going on within the minds of the news bureau and the management team.

I’d like to see this with various US networks...from Fox to ABC. If they would only pump out facts...we’d all be better for it.
