And although she has good relationships with most of the couples she has helped, she has had a falling out with the last couple whose son she gave birth to in June 2004. She believed she had successfully inseminated herself with the husband's sperm, but discovered - to the horror of all concerned - that she had in fact become pregnant by her partner of nine years, mechanic Paul Brown, 50. ..."The couple were very angry but they went ahead with the adoption. "Legally, Paul and I could have taken the baby back, but we had already decided we don't want any more children and it would not have been fair on the couple."

Is this fair on the child? What a disaster.

In the case of this baby, the people who will be raising him aren't even biologically related, and they are only raising him as a result of a business deal......very strange, indeed.

I would hardly know what to think if I were to be that child, growing up among people I'm not related to, and knowing that my 'real' parents gave me up as a result of a contract.

It's not a situation that I would feel comfortable with, but then again this entire story is so foreign to me in all respects, I just shook my head.
