I don’t know anything about Fred Thompson other than he was a senator for a few years. (what state if he from?), and I have never watched any tv shows he is on. I know very little about him. Apparently, as you stated, he is “folksy”?. That’s not good enough.
Hunter has many years experience in government. And he has insider knowledge of the kind that we need right now. Being on the Armed Service Committee for many years puts him in a position that makes him uniquely qualified for the job to lead us against the battle of our time. This is not a time for fluff. From what little I see of Thompson, I can only see fluff. Hunter is solid. He is forthright, he is upfront and honest. He has served his country in war and in peace. He has many many accomplishments as a congressman. Thompson is a diva waiting to make his entrance. We don’t need a diva - we need a serious man for a serious job.
Unless I missed it, Hunter is the only one with a concrete PLAN on how to achieve victory in Iraq. The others say get out, or do it victoriously, or something equally vague. Hunter is the only one who says HOW. By getting the Iraqi military the experience they need to do the job. Fred Thompson’s ploy of appearing on Leno the same night as the debates was cheesy.
Sneakers, if you’ve seen Die Hard 2, Thompson was in that. I can’t remember if he was THE guy in charge of the control tower or not though.
Fred Thompson is from Tennessee and was elected to the US Senate seat that was formerly held by Al Gore, when Gore left the Senate to become Clinton’s VP. He is a lawyer who served on the Watergate Committee in the Senate as Minority Counsel to Senate Republicans during those hearings. Besides a lawyer, actor and Senator, he has been a lobbyist in DC.
