Well, Doohickey, ya got me on at least one of those. I was a groundpounder, so am not familiar with all the terminology - MS5?
Still, that’s okay, ‘cause I get the idea! That’s like us telling a nug to get a fox-tail and dustpan, then go clean the RF Dust off’n the bandaids (1.5 meter bi-directional antennas halfway up the tower at Field Station Berlin).
Okay, MS-5 is the the main steam cross-connect valve. It’s basically a big-ass valve hangs in the overhead about seven feet above the deck between the turbine generators. It allows a single steam loop to run both turbines.
Anyway, because it’s hydraulically operated, the handwheel is on a ratchet and pawl so the handwheel doesn’t spin when it’s cycled. Plus, it’s a knocker valve, so there’s a little bit of play in it when the ball lock pin is removed. It makes a very ominous noise when operated, expecially when someone’s attached to it.
