What action/non-action would you have advocated post-9/11 pertaining to Afghanistan?

Our initial hunt for bin Laden was on target. Then we lost focus, sent the special ops and army ranger units to Iraq.

Fighting terror can be done without occupying the country. Occupying forces just present a bigger target.
