“Fred is the real deal, the rest are just pretend.”

Ok, now that’s the attitude regarding Fred I just don’t get. Am I safe in assuming that you are a conservative Republican who wants a similar, ELECTABLE (sorry, Duncan Hunter fans) candidate? Well so do I.

So a conservative newspaper publishes a story saying that Fred was one of only 6 Senators who wanted illegal aliens to get more than basic benefits, and you don’t have any questions or doubts at all about Fred?

I may well vote for Fred. Doubt me if you want based on my handle (I chose it many months ago when I was much more enthusiastic about Romney than I am now) but it’s the truth. But I certainly won’t vote for him without critically examining his record, votes, views expressed in debates, etc. It seems to me that Fred has done so little publically in the last several months that it would be impossible for anyone to have a firm opinion on just what he’s about. Especially in light of reports like the one today.

Let’s have a debate, not a coronation.

Talk about jumping to conclusions. Someone can vote against a bill without "wanting" aliens to get more than basic benefits - they can instead believe that the fedgov should have no say in the matter under the 10th Amendment.

The story said he voted against a measure, it didn't say he was for them getting more benefits. Though that was the conclusion intended for you to reach. Unless you are familiar with the actual bill and what it contained, beware of other people's agendas when they make conclusory statements like the author did.

Debates work best with vetted facts instead of emotionally-driven conclusions from incomplete information.

What Fred has said recently for me overrides all the past on immigration, including the context of why he voted the way he did. Votes in bygone times come without context of the time, for the most part I ignore. I take people on face value of what they say and do recently. Fred came down hard on the side of securing the borders first and then addressing the other issues once the borders were proved secure. He did this during the debate, not after the outcome was known. That’s good enough for me -— and I am really interested in this issue from a National Sovereignty point of view.

Fred has written a host of policy position memos and several videos in the last few months, you can find them at his site.

I have first hand knowledge of Romney when he was in the last part of his term in Mass and he made several moves to just burnish his talking points. When Mitt found that Romney care, socialized medicine lite, wasn’t going to fly, he said turn it over to the states — another detour.

I don’t trust Romney to carry the Conservative banner, I trust Fred. No candidate is perfect, you do the best you can at the time you have to choose. But more than anything else we need a National CONSERVATIVE Leader to carry the banner, not some administrative schlep that will muddle through. And I think Bush is in that category, good on the war, but not a Conservative leader, and we have suffered for it. Yes I voted fro Bush twice, what else would we do, alGore, that would be a disaster.

A Conservative leader is what we need ... And Fred is the best we have got for now.

My sure fire test over the years is Gun control == Liberal, never failed me once.

The debate is on, your turn ...
