You are wrong about “ its not that hard to kill yourself.” If you are terminal, it is almost impossible to ‘kill yourself”.

And it is not only liberals who want to discuss these issues. What are all the “outraged ‘..so called ‘normally intelligent posters “ afraid of.??? I am not afraid to hear and debate Dr. K. I can’t stand him personally, but it is important to have these discussions and debate!

Who is getting paid $50,000 to debate Kevorkian? Who is even being given a microphone to debate him?

Depressed people attempt and often succeed at committing suicide every day. Society and the psychiatric community has ALWAYS believed in treating depression so that the depressed DON'T harm themselves or others. Are you suggesting that society should abandon these principles? Are the depressed simply "useless eaters" who place an unnecessary financial burden on the rest of society?

Oh please. While I appreciate your desire to discuss this, it does no good to try and begin the discussion with a bad premise.

If one wants to end their life badly enough one can. Period.

Now it might take some guile for example, if one is terminal and cannot move or be ambulatory. This is not rocket science. But don’t paint “terminal” patients as unable to move about or fend for themselves. Why the hell is it almost impossible to kill yourself if your terminal? Are you assuming that a terminal person can’t walk about or get out of bed? I daresay that’s not often the case until perhaps the last hours or days.

People kill themselves in all manner of ways and again, I state firmly, if one wants it bad enough, it can be done.

also, if one is terminal and suffering, usually there’s SOMEBODY around who would I dunno, maybe get a gun, a packet of pills.....it’s not impossible and I’ll never buy that argument.

That being said, and you may disagree but I’ll not be cut off from my assertion that in order to make nice men like Doctor Kavorkian legal and not subject to the laws or murder and such, why you’d have to pass a law that euthanasia is perfectly legal. Why on earth any alleged conservative would espouse such a thing, especially knowing about what happened with the abortion mess, is beyond me.

Recall also that several of those nursing home operators who allegedly helped some of the trapped patients to an early death were ALL tried for murder.

You just don’t want that in a decent society and to feel this way is to invite the slippery slope of abortion.

But again, I certainly have no problem with a suffering human ending his or her life. Just don’t ask the government of MY country to make it legal because of your cowardice.

Oh, and this lovely Dr. K...keep defending the creep.

I can see the highways and byways now, filled with happening “Euthanasia parlors”, all occupied with union membered perverts who like to watch people die.

Open your eyeballs and maybe your mind. Think where this all could lead.

There’s nobody afraid of Kevorkian here, there are people who think paying a convicted murderer $50,000 in state funds to peddle his “I’m a wonderful guy” pap is a load of crap.
