I don’t care if Karl Rove’s stepdad tapdanced in bathroom stalls. I don’t care if his phone number was written on every stall across America. I don’t care if he had a ring the size of a grapefruit pierced in his weenis. We ALL have nuts in our family. I bet if you looked deep enough, you would find a nut in your’s, too. Get over it. FGS, what does it matter??
............so are you saying that anyone can just float a story, obviously in an attempt to discredit Karl (or any other public figure), and that it’s HIS responsibility to disprove it? My, my, public figures could spend all their time trying to disprove any wild rumors that anyone would care to spread. They’d never have time to attend to their jobs............sounds like a Dem strategy to me. WHO CARES? Why should he have to disprove it? It has nothing to do with who he is. I’m so stinking tired of this kind of Junior High crap!
You must apologize for that Vociferous post. ;o)
The footnote in Wikipedia supposedly documenting that Rove’s stepfather was gay is from Time Magazine, which has no source given for verification. However, it doesn’t matter if Rove’s stepfather was gay because the point of what I wrote is that not crediting his former stepfather for raising him is understandable as his mother divorced him and committed suicide. What does that tell you?
OK, here’s the trail of documentation:
1. Wikipedia entry on Karl Rove attributes the story that Rove’s stepfather was gay to a Newsweek Magazine interview with Karl Rove biographer Wayne Slater of the Dallas Morning News - see footnote #4 here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Rove
2. Who is Wayne Slater? He is the Dallas Morning News reporter who started the infamous Rathergate phony memo scandal. Slater brought forth Bill Burkett - the man who provided the phony documents to Dan Rather’s editor, Mary Mapes, as a credible witness despite overwhelming evidence that Burkett “was a serial liar.” See here: http://www.mcculloughsite.net/stingray/2006/06/11/dallas-morning-news-wayne-slater-of-rathergate-fame-gets-it-right.php
I rest my case. The articles by Frank Clark eminatng from Wayne Slater are thoroughly impeached as noncredible.
LICKSPITTLE, n. A useful functionary, not infrequently found editing a newspaper. In his character of editor he is closely allied to the blackmailer by the tie of occasional identity; for in truth the lickspittle is only the blackmailer under another aspect, although the latter is frequently found as an independent species. Lickspittling is more detestable than blackmailing, precisely as the business of a confidence man is more detestable than that of a highway robber; and the parallel maintains itself throughout, for whereas few robbers will cheat, every sneak will plunder if he dare.
