Lennon was not a bad musician, As you suggest, the distinctive Beatle sound was McCartney’s doing, but listening to Lennon’s later stuff, one can hear some of his contributions in the earlier music. I was joking about ONO. Oh, yes, I heard her "stuff,: too. Lennon was blind, deaf and dumb to have succumbed to her “charms.”

“Lennon was not a bad musician”

I agree with that, he just wasn’t McCartney’s equal. The group might well have become famous without Paul, but it would never have become the musical force that it did become without McCartney. I might well have happened without Lennon.

Things like this are always in the eye of the beholder, but it seems to me that rock and roll evolved as it did first because of Buddy Holly and then later because of Paul McCartney.

Lennon was brilliant in the Beatles. At least half of all the great Beatle tunes came from him.
Didn’t care much for his solo stuff , a few good moments there. Imagine lyrics , who cares , nice tune , nothing big. I’m sure john didn’t take the lyrics as seriously as some here do . Yoko led him down a wierd pathway . I liked him much more when he was a rude , street kid , rocker.
