China Finds American Vitamin Nourishment "Substandard"

(BEIJING) - The trade war between China and the US over the quality of their products continued to simmer with Beijing today claiming that two brands of vitamin pills and children's oil made in America were found substandard.

Officials in the eastern Zhejiang province's industry and commerce bureau said that vitamin and mineral pills under the brand of K Max had the contents of manganese, vitamine A, vitamin D and zinc below its own specifications.

The other product under scrutiny was Alaska New Life children's fish oil, Xinhua news agency reported from Hangzhou, the provincial capital.

The vitamin and mineral pills and fish oil have been sold at 150 yuan (USD19.7) and 98 yuan (USD12.9) per bottle respectively in Zhejiang.

An unidentified official with the provincial industry and commerce bureau said that a thorough inspection would be carried out for imported food products.

He also warned people to be cautious of taking foreign nourishment and avoid blind faith in expensive products, the report said.

China and the United States have seized this year each others' products this year that were deemed unsafe amid an ongoing trade row exemplified by a major recall of Chinese toys by US company Mattel recently.

On Thursday, China's quarantine administration said it has detected harmful pine wood nematodes in 13 batches of wooden packages of US-imported goods.

A day earlier, the administration said it found a recent cargo of 21.6 tonnes of frozen potato slices imported from the United States was not up to quality standard concerning carbonyl and acidity levels

Fine. Let’s end all trade with China until this is all sorted out.

Do these idiots think that this will convince Americans to eat poisoned Chinese products?

Of course, it will convince the multi-national corporations to sell poisoned Chinese products to Americans.

The ironic side of this is, both of those products were made by a contract manufacturer who more than likely bought his raw ingredients from a supplier who was getting them from the PRC.

And, the products, which are obviously being sold in the PRC, have been ordered by a distributor there who wanted this exact product manufacturered to his specific price point.

Ahhh the ironic twists of doing business with the Middle Kingdom!

Oh I have no doubt the product is substandard. It’s made by a Chinese company.

K-Max is a division of the Kang Long Group, headquartered in Shanghai. They have a mfg plant in Calif—probably just so they can slap a “made in the USA” label on the bottles.
The ingredients are almost certainly all produced in China and shipped to the US to be slapped together (”manufactured”) as pills.

Hey China,

If you’re upset with getting yer tit in the wringer because of the flap over your poisoned products, don’t worry. I’m willing to supply all the lead you are used to in your domestic products free of charge in a convenient to take 5.56 mm pellet form.

maybe brazil would take the world’s demands for product safety more seriously than china.

why not diversify? competition would be good for the chicoms.

China probably correct about the vitamin pills. American studies have found such pills are commonly below the rated dosages. China’s mistake is a common liberal mistake. They think two wrongs make both right.
