This is a problem with any news organization. Hiring a politically diverse staff creates internal tensions. It may be better to have a 100% conservative news room.

Let Geraldo go to MSNBC or CNN.

If Fox thought it would boost ratings, they'd give a talk show to the Ayatollah or to Hugo Chavez. They know very well that the keeper of "Al Capone's Vault" has never been a thoughtful commentator on anything. Just like Imus or Stern, Rivera appeals to the meatheads out there. They spend money on sponsors' products just like anybody else and Fox does not want to give up that segment of the marketplace and lose the ad revenue. It's the same reason Fox spotlights a clown like O'Reilly. He brings in viewers and that pleases the sponsors.
