Malaysia considers switch to Islamic law
The Telegraph ^ | 9/1/2007 | Thomas Bell in Kuala Lumpur

Hardline Islamic law could be introduced across Malaysia under reforms proposed by the country's chief justice.

As the nation in south-east Asia celebrated 50 years of independence from Britain yesterday, its government was preparing to discuss a plan that would revolutionise the legal system put in place by its former colonial administrators.

Merdeka Square in downtown Kuala Lumpur

As Kuala Lumpur witnessed celebrations that included parades, fireworks and a fighter-jet fly-by attended by the Duke of York, the proposal pointed to the deep differences which locals say are poisoning social relations beyond the glitter and skyscrapers of Malaysia's modern capital city.

Ahmad Fairuz, the chief justice, told an Islamic conference in Kuala Lumpur that 50 years of independence had failed to free Malaysia from the "clutches of colonialism". Sharia law should be "infused" into the gaps created by abolishing common law, he said.

Malaysia's non-Muslim Chinese and Indian communities, who form 40 per cent of the population, are alarmed at creeping Islamisation.

Abdul Badawi, the prime minister, this month joined other leaders for the first time in denying what the British-authored constitution has said for 50 years - that Malaysia is a secular state.

Sharia law already operates in some Malaysian states and is occasionally applied to non-Muslims, as in July when Islamic officials forcibly separated a Hindu-Muslim couple with six children after 21 years of marriage.

The majority ethnic Malays are defined as Muslim by law and forbidden from converting.

Racial tensions are already high due to official discrimination in favour of Malays, who enjoy better employment opportunities, preferential loans and lower house prices.

Dr Mohd Hatta, of the Islamic Party, welcomed the latest proposal in principle, but said: "The chief justice should be enforcing laws, not making them."

Meanwhile, dissent is increasingly harshly repressed. Journalists and bloggers say they are tailed by police and their phones are tapped.

Bumiputra or Bumiputera (Malay, from Sanskrit Bhumiputra; translated literally, it means “son of the soil”), is an official definition widely used in Malaysia, embracing ethnic Malays as well as other indigenous ethnic groups such as the Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia and the tribal peoples in Sabah and Sarawak. Economic policies designed to favour Bumiputras (including affirmative action in public education) were implemented in the 1970s in order to defuse inter-ethnic tensions following the May 13 Incident in 1969, but these have not been fully effective in eradicating poverty among rural bumiputras and have further caused a backlash of resentment on the part of non-bumi ethnic groups. << Meaning, Malaysia has long-used ethnic cleansing & quotas against the CHINESE.. So do their Indonesian cousins. Therefore, the only option the Chinese have is to change their name to long sing-song words and bribe—bribe-— and pay off their cronies. >>> This is why so many ASEAN nations rot.

I dunno. I just got back from the UK. Don’t underestimate the number of borderline soccer-holigan in Britain. Sure, much is made of the stereo-typical, civilized British gentleman, but the truth is they are way outnumbered by lots of very scary looking blokes.

"I got question what give them right to separate Hindu and Muslum couple after 21 year of marriage "

Simple. Sharia law. it's illegal for a Muslim woman to marry a non muslim. Any non- Muslim woman marrying a muslim man must convert.

If you don't know what Islam is yet, you better get busy and start learning. It isn't the "religion of peace" lying politicians say it is.

It's a barbaric 7th century blood cult whose god, (Satan) instructs all muslims to kill all those who refuse Islam.

It's goal is to conquer and turn the whole world into allah (Satan) worshipers, no matter how many they need to slaughter.

It's prophet, Muhammad, was a 53 illiterate old pedophile who married a 6 year old baby and raped her, had 23 or so wives, and many slave women on top of that, was a mass murderer, a thief, liar, a camel humper, and mentaly retarded to boot.

Qur'an:8:7 "Allah wished to confirm the truth by His words: ‘Wipe the infidels out to the last.'"

Qur'an:8:39 "Fight them till all opposition ends and the only religion is Islam."

Well don’t worry, Islam will wipe all traces of it’s former culteral identity away in a few short decades, never to be seen again.
There is no reason to think Malaysia will be any different than any other country where Islam has infested. Like a cancer, it changes what was beautiful into an ugly dark tumor oozing puss and a foul smell.

Next time you buy a computer, ask the maker to not install any parts made in Malaysia. See what happens.

Yes. And these are the people who we should be allowing in our country. But insanely, we import Muslims.

... Islamic crusades that were killing off the Christian and other infidel population and establishing Muhammadan barbarism...

Please use words correctly. Muslims do not crusade. You do a disservice to all the Christians who did crusade.

After Islam takes over, that won’t be a problem. It won’t take long for Islam to destroy that industry, like it destroys everything else it touches.

In the mean time, build your own PC. It isn’t that hard.

“Crusade” Isn’t a word owned by European Christians.

Muslims did indeed “crusade”.

And all crusades were not Christian crusades either.
You do a disservice to true Christian history by suggesting that they were.

Why does the MSM always call loss of freedom "reforms". They did that with Chavez's power grab in Venezuela too.

From the Concise Oxford Dictionary

crusade
• noun 1 any of a series of medieval military expeditions made by Europeans to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims. 2 an energetic organized campaign with a political, social, or religious aim: a crusade against crime.
• verb 1 lead or take part in a crusade. 2 crusading energetically campaigning for a particular aim.
— DERIVATIVES crusader noun.
— ORIGIN French croisade, from croisée ‘the state of being marked with the cross’.

I have a hard time imagining a Muslim carrying out a Jihad but calling it by a name derived from a word meaning cross, the Christian one particularly. I'm sure you can cite numerous examples.

They’d make this switch to Islamic law in aKAula Lumpur minute. Malaysia’s Chinese and Indian communities, overwhelmingly non-Muslim, and also about 40+ % of the country’s population, suffer some of the worst kinds of reverse discrimination, anywhere in the world. It takes several times the marks a Malay would have to score, for an Indian or a Chinese, to say, get admitted into an engineering school.

"Any Christians with a lick of sense had better GET THE HECK OUT as fast as possible.....

I travel to Malaysia for business at least four times a year and have been doing so for many years. I have never experienced or witnessed any acts of oppression by the government. I have had many more issues in the Catholic nation of the Philippines.

Yes, there are institutional preferences for Muslims in Malaysia, but the industry and wealth are owned and controlled primarily by the local Chinese and to a lesser degree by the Indians. The overall level of education and standard of living within these two groups is on par with most western nations. I will continue to go there without concerns or reservations.

There were Crusades by pagan orders of knights against other pagan orders of knights in what is now present day Lithuania/Estonia and surrounding areas during the 12th and 13th century. Teutons and other smaller orders while still Pagan, took on the language of the Papal Crusades to vie for political favors from Rome and other Christian lands... Sometime after the Teutons won, they slowly gave up the pagan religions and joined Christendom.

I think I've pretty much got my finger on the pulse so to speak and when the situation warrants if it ever does I'll be sure to "sound the alarm".

And Natural Law, I'm a bit disappointed that you have never had the courtesy to look me up when you are over in this neck of the woods.
