Howie Carr Show live thread 8/31/07

During the 6 pm hour today, Howie announced he will be off not just on Monday for Labor Day but all week long. Evidently he must be burning off even more vacation time accumulated from Entercom. So...it's more proof he does not intend to stick around the sneaker building no matter what gets offered. Still legal stuff to deal with but it's possible that Howie could be down to his last 7 or 8 WRKO shows (contract due to expire Sept 19) and he and WTKK would hope he could start on 96.9 by Oct 1...but there are various legal things to hammer out.

Assuming he will be able to jump to FM there could be a period of weeks or months when he's off air (can they enforce the no-compete clause? is that legal in this state?)

Or maybe he'll just have a couple weeks to do some practice shows and get ready for a month from today for a 'TKK debut. Note to those on the Howie ping list: next week because it's a Not Howie week we will do one thread and you'll be pinged to it every day. Not sure who's filling in.

I hope WVMT picks Howie up again when he moves. It’s been a rocky road trying to listen to his show over the last year or so!

OK, will add you! Yes it’s disappointing that not long after WVMT picked Howie back up again, came the news that he’d
be moving to FM in Boston and his syndication status is
in question.
Just about every station who runs Howie has a morning
show already including C&E on WVMT, but I’d hope
Greater Media would syndicate Howie and allow stations
to run him in afternoon tape delayed (if they can’t
“clear” him in the morning...)

When I visit VT, which I do several times a year, I’m
glad WVMT has been around to carry Howie. Otherwise
I had to strain to hear him on WRKO or some other
station!
